What is Ultrasonic Side Sealing?

Think of ultrasonic sealing as “welding with sound” rather than using high heat or messy glues. Imagine rubbing your hands together very quickly until they feel warm. Ultrasonic technology does the same thing at a super-high speed. By using high-frequency sound waves, we join the materials together. This process offers three major benefits for the baby and the planet:

Traditional heat-pressing can leave seams and overall diaper feeling stiff. Because ultrasonic sealing generates heat only at the point of contact within the fibers, the surrounding material stays soft. Furthermore, this creates a ‘cohesive bond,’ meaning the two layers fuse into a single strong piece that won’t pull apart during a busy day of play.

  • A Glue-Free Zone

Many traditional diapers rely on hot-melt adhesives to hold the layers together. Unfortunately, some diaper glues have been found to contain formaldehyde, a known carcinogen and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC). Since babies wear diapers 24/7, even low-level exposure of VOCs can lead to respiratory irritation or long-term health concerns.
